Things to ask before the trip

Here are some things to ask along the way and while planning a trip. Asking these questions can help one be more prepared.

• Who is traveling on the trip?

• Is my parent coming with me or is it just my troop leader? If not am I prepared to travel without my parent?

• How am I earning money?

• Is this trip realistic and reasonable?

• Is everyone happy with where we are traveling?

• Do we need more time to money earn?

• How much money do I need to travel?

• How long are we staying?

• How am I keeping in touch with my troop up until the trip? Are we having weekly planning meetings?

• Is everyone getting to share their opinions and choices?

• Is this destination safe for me?

• Would I feel safe navigating in this place?

• Do I speak the language of this location?

• What are my expectations for this trip?

• Is my itinerary jam packed or will I have enough time in between each activity?

• What will be the weather in the place? Will it be hot or cold? Do I have the right type of clothing to fit in with this climate?

• How much downtime will I have on this trip?

• Is there anything I need to be mindful of when I travel?

• Have I done my research or has someone else done it for me?

• Have I contributed to the discussions on trip ideas?

• Do I know what to do if I get separated from the group?

• Have I packed to much or too little?

• How am I getting from location to location? Am I walking, taking a bus, train, taxi or more from the airport/train station/bus stop...

• Do I have the correct currency?

• Will I experience jet lag and will I have time to recuperate from it?

• Is it a different time zone?

• Will I be able to communicate home?

• What do I do if I am homesick?

• How do I communicate with my group on the trip? On whats app, text, email, phone...

• Am I prepared?

• Is my team/troop/group prepared?
