This is a continuation on the fundraising series. We previously discussed about how to market and be a creative babysitter. Today we will talk about the technique of cleaning out ones closet and using the proceeds to travel. Spring is here and it is almost summer! Start it off right by selling old clothes, toys, and furniture. In turn, use the money for travel. This is a way to both clean out the house and simplify ones home space to raise money for travel.

How to find a spot and advertise-

Start in your community

Some neighborhoods and communities do yearly or monthly yard sales in community park or clubhouse. If your neighborhood does not do this, attend community meeting and maybe suggest this. Get multiple families to participate and advertise it to other neighbors and local neighborhoods. Put signs up, try to get it in newspaper, and find other creative ways to get the word out before the sale.

Think about time

Now its time to pick a time and date- most flea markets occur on weekends because people work during the day. But this does not have to be the case with yours. Maybe your neighborhood sale would be more successful in evening of weekdays when people are returning from work. Know your audience and think about the time that would work best for them.

Offer deals and negotiate

Allow customers to negotiate price or offer two for one deals to get more items sold. Find the marketing price points that work for you.

No matter what fundraiser you do, it is always important to consider th3 marketing team. It can make a difference whether people come to support your event of not. Get the word out and find creative signs and techniques to advertise.
