Money earning ideas for Girl Scouts

When planning a trip it is critical to budget and come up with a way to earn money. This blog post explores different routes your troop can take to earn money for you trip. Make sure you get your money earning approved by both your council and service unit. Check safety activity Checkpoints, GSCM policies, and volunteer essentials to make sure the money earning activities are in line with GSUSA and GSCM.

Sell Cookies
As a Girl Scout, we have a unique way to earn money for trips. We can sell cookies as a troop and use the money to go camping for the weekend or save it up to go on a bigger trip. Meet with your troop and discuss goals of cookie selling. If you want to save up for a bigger trip, discuss ways you can sell more cookies. For example, perhaps try cookie booth sales or come up with an advertisement to share.
Host a craft sale
Team up and create artistic pieces to sell in your community. Play around with different textures, prints, or art forms. Pair it up with a GS badge and work on a the sewing badge or textile artist badge. you can even reach out to local artists and ask them to donate pieces to auction off at the sale.
Make a GS themed cookbook
Come up with clever recipes with GS cookies, come up with campfire recipes, and GS favorites. Any GS cookie fan would love creative ideas on how to eat cookies. Use your favorite recipes and share them with others.
Flocking
Offer to flamingo peoples yard for a donation. Even play around with different themes. For example in the fall fill the yard with ghosts or pumpkins.
Babysit/ Pet sit
Save up from watching neighbors kids or pets.
Dinner Theater
Put on a play and serve the guests dinner. Even invite local actors and actresses to participate. Play around and create your own show or put a twist on an existing show.
Cooking or Baking contest
Do your own version of a cooking show. Entries in different categories could submit their food. Invite people to pay an entry fee to try as much food as they want. Play around with challenging participants to use certain ingredients. Offer prizes for contestants such as best flavor, creative ingredients, and more.
Holiday helping hand
Offer to decorate neighbors yards with lights or decorations during holiday seasons. Offer to wrap gifts or make Christmas cookies.
