Skills needed for Traveling as a Girl Scout

Many skills are needed to travel as a Girl scout. In this post, we will explore some necessary skills.

Teamwork

When traveling with a large group, all members should strive to work together, while sticking as a group. Before the trip, make sure your group does bonding exercises and activities to get to know each other better. Some suggestions to work on teamwork include doing a ropes course together, having a games night, local camping together,

playing twenty questions, or other activities.

Flexibility

Learn to be flexible and make sure everyone gets an activity they want. We can not always get the activity or trip we want, so work with others to vote and let the majority chose the plan. Make sure every voice is heard, and if you don't get your firs choice, remember that it is a group trip.

Time managing

When traveling, maximizing time is essential. Learn to make the most of the day by waking up early, having a schedule, and eating on the go. Make sure everyone is aware and familiar with the schedule and events of the trip.

Innovation

Be creative when coming up with alternatives to activities. For example if one person wants to go to the London Eye and another wants to go on a boat tour, try to go on a boat tour that takes you to the London Eye. This way it fits both actives in. Be creative and come up with options.

Organization

Learn to prioritize actives, pack efficiently, and plan accordingly. All of this is needed to make a successful trip.

Patience

When traveling with others be considerate of the others. Wait for others and make sure everyone is comfortable with the plan.

Navigation

Learn your way around. Know how to use a map or a compass. While you might not be in the middle of nowhere, at least be prepared to find your way from place to place Have a backup plan if you get lost and separated from the group. Make sure everyone is aware of the basic landscape and layout
